Perhaps you have asked the question yourself. Why?

It's a reasonable question that deserves an answer. In fact, lots of people are wondering why the Mesa County Fair comes during the hottest time of the year.

The  Mesa County Fair website explains it this way.

We have only a short window of time (a few weeks from mid-July to mid-August) to host the Fair in order to allow local exhibitors to qualify for the State Fair, which happens in late August. We try to make sure we are not hosting our Fair the same week as neighboring counties, but most Fairs all around the state are held during this time.

Honestly, I never really knew why the Mesa County Fair is always held in the middle of July, but now I do.It makes perfect sense to me.

By the way, free admission must be working because the Mesa County Fair has announced admission will be free again this year at the annual summer event.

Thanks to a great many sponsors, gate admission is free which entitles you to see mountain bike stunts, duck racing, comedy, magic, glass blowing, wood carving, contests, local music, the kids zone, and livestock tours.

As is normal, there will be nightly events that require the purchase of a ticket including Professional Bull Riding, Ned LeDoux Concert, Demolition Derby, and  Wine Tasting.

Something new this year in lieu of the traditional midway rides will be Inflata Ville, featuring over 30 inflatable attractions and a 55-foot slide.

So, yes, it's going to be warm, no doubt about that, but there are plenty of ways to keep cool. The Mesa County Fair really is a great community event and an excellent entertainment value for families. Now we know why the fair happens during the hottest time of the year.
