Why Are Hearts Hidden All Over Colorado?
Have you walked down a Colorado trail only to find a heart on the side of the path? I'm not necessarily talking about an actual human organ. I'm referring to one of these heart-shaped messages. What are they for?
April is National Donate Life Month. Last Friday, I had the opportunity to hang out with the crew and volunteers with Donate Life Colorado. They had several of these hearts on display. I had to ask what was up. According to Donate Life Colorado -
We’ve hidden hearts across Colorado and Wyoming. If you find a heart, share a photo of it on social media using #ShowYourHeart and tell your followers why you support organ, eye and tissue donation. After that you can add your personal note and leave as an inspirational surprise for another to find. You can also take the heart or show the heart on your license at one of our partner businesses for special discounts!
Head to this site to discover where the hearts are located. Take a picture of the heart and then share with the hashtag #ShowYourHeart, along with a message as to why you support organ donation. You can then leave the heart for someone else to find, or take it to a participating sponsor for freebies and special offers.
For those in Grand Junction, here's a little hint. This message comes directly from the map indicating the location of a hidden heart.
Our friends with the Grand Junction Rockies have hidden hearts all around their field!
One Grand Junction business offering discounts is Costa Vida. When you head to Costa Vida at 2430 Patterson Road, show them the heart on your driver's license indicating your an organ and tissue donor. Because you're a donor, when you purchase one entree at Costa Vida, you'll get a second for free. This offer is good through April 22, 2018. Here are some other examples:
Give the gift of life this and every month. While you're at it, have a little fun finding the hearts hidden all over Colorado and Wyoming. Take a photo and spread the word.
