The staples of Country music and outlaw country, some of the biggest stars and the most recognizable names have either passed or are on their way out. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams have passed, RIP. David Alan Coe, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Ray Price and Dolly Parton are still around and kicking.

I'm wondering who will be able to fill the shoes of all these great country artist when they are gone. Yes, we love to play the old stuff, especially the outlaw country, but we also have to play the new stuff. I want to know which artist will be able to fill their shoes.

George Strait is supposedly on his last tour. Waylon Jennings said that Travis Tritt is the only artist out there anymore that plays real country music and is worth a sh!t. George Jones is still around but not producing much music. Tim McGraw has numerous hits but is he comparable to the likes of Waylon, Johnny, Merle and some of the other?

Even looking at the female artist, who is going to replace women like Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline? Miranda Lambert is a possible prospect. Even Faith Hill has a huge fan base and numerous #1 hits. Leann Rimes has a similar sound to some of the old fashion females.
