Today, January 18, you can enjoy free access to the Colorado National Monument in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Are there other days out of the year when you can get free access, and if so, when are they? Here's the list for free days at the Colorado National Monument for 2016.

The Secretary of the Interior encourages you to utilize these free days so as to "explore America's natural beauty, rich history and culture." While access to the monument is free, camping fees will still apply.

The list of free days for 2016 are:

  • January 18 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • April 16-24 - National Park Week
  • August 25-28 - National Park Service Birthday
  • September 24 - National Public Lands Day
  • November 11 - Veterans Day

Please note that some of the "free days" listed above actually include multiple days, as in the case of "National Park Week."

We are blessed with one of the greatest parks in the nation. If you're not utilizing the Colorado National Monument, you're missing out. Take full advantage of those free days... that's what they're for.
