There has been some talk about this building and the site it's on. What would you like to see done with it?

The city of Grand Junction has speculated that they may turn this lot into housing units. The word was that this building will NOT be torn down, but does that mean that it should be renovated into the housing units? Here's a report from KKCO NEWS11.

Love these old, historic buildings. This is the former building of the R-5 High School. But, did you know before that, it was the Lowell Elementary School.

The architect was Eugene G. Groves. It was built in 1925. He is also responsible for designing the Grand Junction High School building that was located at 624 North 9th Street that was built around the same time as the Lowell building. The builders were a firm known as Winterbum & Lumsden.

I feel sad when a beautiful historic building gets torn down. There was talk about tearing down MY old elementary school back in WI. That sure got people up in arms. The residents said absolutely not. That building has been around since 1929. So, it still stands today.
