For my money, the most dangerous crosswalk in Grand Junction would be a tie between 12th and North Avenue heading to the stadium, or 5th and Pitkin. Which intersection in Grand Junction would you consider to be the most dangerous for pedestrians?

12th and North is obvious. Pedestrians experience a steady flow of drivers heading to either the university, the stadium, or McDonald's.

Crossing Pitkin while heading to the park between 4th and 5th is also potentially hazardous. This is the intersection with the left turn lane taking you off 5th onto the one-way at Pitkin. This intersection sees consistent foot traffic with people coming out of the bus station, and, with no disrespect intended, a number of transients making their way to the park.

On my way into work this morning, I witnessed a man trying to cross Pitkin on his way to the Whitman Park, only to have his path interrupted by a car blowing the crosswalk. In this particular case, the pedestrian was completely in the right, crossing with the "walk" sign. In a word, the motorist was simply being impatient.

These are my two picks for Grand Junction's most dangerous crosswalks. Is there a street you avoid for fear of getting tanked?
