Moments ago, it was announced Country music legend Ray Price passed away while in Hospice care at his home in Texas. Several Western Colorado musicians were inspired to share their thoughts and even their talents in order to pay tribute to the legendary performer.

Ray's wife, Janie, along with other members of the Price family, kept a constant vigil at his side during his final days.

Meanwhile, here in Western Colorado, local musicians, saddened to hear the news about one of their musical heroes, took a moment to share their thoughts.

One of the great icons we all looked up to... and who in the world wouldn't love to be able to kick out a song as he always did. I saw him a few short years ago and he still sang his butt off. The wonderful songs he put out will continue to be played by other as long as there is a Country singer getting on stage. Ralph [Smith] certainly did a great job on a lot of his tunes and I was always so proud to be playing along as he did. He will be missed but never forgotten." Clyde Jorgensen - Ralph & Clyde

"When I was very young, I listened to what my parents listened to. One of their favorites was Ray Price. Smooth Country. The one song that sticks in my mind was "For The Good Times" which Kris Kristofferson wrote. Ray has a great voice which was easy to sing along with." -Gerry Goodman - The Goodman Band

"I'll always remember Ray because he was one of my mom's favorites. When I was a youngster, Ray Price records were being played all the time in our house. As I grew older, I began to appreciate Ray for what he truly was... a Country music legend and a gentleman! He will surely be missed, but not forgotten." Greg Achord - The Desert Flyer Band

One local musician, Gary Smith, a Jazz guitarist and member of the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, took a moment to pick up his guitar earlier today and record this tribute to Ray Price.
