West Middle School Transitioned to Shelter In Place Due to Police Activity
West Middle School is transitioning to shelter in place after briefly being put on lockdown late this morning.
Grand Junction police officers were called to the 1700 block of N. 1st St after a women reported she was assaulted. The victim said a man she new kicked in her door and assaulted her. The suspect fled the scene and is believed to be armed with a knife.
Officers put West Middle School on lockdown as a precaution while searching for the suspect. The suspect is still at large, but authorities do not believe the schools are in danger.
