Walmart Grocery Pickup Arrives in Grand Junction
Imagine doing your grocery shopping from the convenience of your home or office.
The Grand Junction Rimrock Walmart now offers Walmart Grocery Pickup. Basically, you sign up and shop.
The web page looks pretty much like any other online shopping page you've ever seen. You have a "cart" and you browse the site searching for your desired items. The cart keeps track of your purchases and the dollar total.
What can you purchase? If it falls into the grocery category, it's pretty much fair game. They have all the typical grocery items, even produce and meats.
To sign up you'll need an email and a password. I signed up in order to give this feature a test run. For reasons I cannot explain, the site assigned me the not-so-flattering user name of "butt." Hey! That's Mr. butt to you!
Seriously, I have no explanation how I received the handle. What did I do to deserve this?
Name calling aside, I want to try this site. After shopping, you arrange a time you would like to pick up your groceries. According to the site, employees will bring your items to you and load them in the car.
Let's put this thing to the test. Let's try searching for a few uncommon items and see if they come up with anything.
My first search was for pomegranate. Let me assure you the spelling I entered for this item was nowhere near close. Even with the misspelling, the search revealed four hits.
Next search: dog ice cream. Believe it or not, the frozen food sections at most grocery stores now sell ice cream for dogs. Any results? The search delivered four hits, only one of which was actually dog ice cream. The other three hits included two "people" ice cream selections and a frozen Snickers bar.
I see only one problem with this site. When I head to the grocery store, I do so with no idea what I'm shopping for. Everyone knows you're not supposed to do that. You should have a list and stick to it. Nevertheless, I shop on impulse. I'll know it when I see it.
Give it a whirl. Did you ever think the day would come when you could do your grocery shopping from your home or cell phone?
