It's not unusual to hear of an extreme crime story out of Florida it seems like there are always crazy things coming out of that state. Unfortunately, this one has to do with one of the suspects from Grand Junction, the other being from Placerville, Colorado.

38-year-old Duane Lee Storey of Grand Junction was arrested alongside 41-year-old Cody Sean Brelsford in Port Panama City, Florida. Authorities are tracking their path to see if the two were involved in the fatal shooting of a nurse along an interstate in Nashville, Tennessee and eventually getting into a police chase ending in a standoff.

According to Click Orlando, on Saturday, December 5th was when the first 911 call came in from a man who had been shot, then another 911 call came in from another individual saying he had been shot at multiple times by someone in a Jeep in the middle of an intersection.

Law enforcement later said they believe it was Storey who was driving the Jeep and fired the shots at a box truck that was approaching the intersection. This was just a random act of violence.

Storey then headed south in the Jeep while law enforcement was spreading the details to surrounding counties regarding the vehicle description. Deputies located the vehicle and the driver fled. Throughout the chase, one of the suspects pointed a handgun with a laser at a deputy.

The Jeep finally drove through a barricade before the suspects hit a dead end and the standoff began. Deputies began negotiations with the suspects finally agreeing to surrender.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office released information on Tuesday that Storey's mother wanted authorities to check on her son after making comments about being in the CIA. Storey is a combat veteran, and his mother believes he has PTSD. She also mentioned that he made statements about "suicide by cop".

Authorities are now tracing the steps the pair made before reaching Florida as there was a fatal shooting that took place on a Tennessee highway on December 3rd.

Both are charged with numerous felonies with no lawyer representation listed on jail records.
