The Mesa County Sheriff's Office hosted another "Coffee With A Cop" last Saturday, and it was nothing short of awesome. In case you haven't attended one of these community events, here are the top five reasons you should make a point to participate the next time it rolls around.

"Coffee With A Cop" is a public event hosted by the Mesa County Sheriff's Office where citizens can meet with deputies to ask questions and express concerns. Via their Facebook page, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office has hinted at the idea they would like to host this event again next January. Let them know you would love to attend.

The event has typically been held at the Clifton McDonald's at 3219 I-70 Business Loop. During the last event, deputies were on hand from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. to meet with the public.

If you have not attended this event, here are five reasons why you should attend the next time it occurs:

  • No speeches or agendas, just questions and your chance to express concerns
  • The coffee really was good
  • Chance to ask questions in an informal setting
  • It's an opportunity to discuss matters that don't necessitate a call or visit to the Sheriff's Office
  • It's a great opportunity to connect with local law enforcement

In my case, this was an opportunity to discuss concerns regarding certain events which occurred in my neighborhood. These concerns were minor, and did not warrant a call or visit to the Sheriff's Office.

If the MCSO hosts this event again, consider making plans to attend. Have questions ready, write them out if you need to. Hopefully, you can participate and make this a recurring event with Western Colorado's law enforcement.
