This Grand Junction businessman just reached the most amazing milestone anyone could ever hope for. After a two-year cancer battle, he's now celebrating being one year cancer free.

Dan Welsh, the owner/operator of a Grand Junction-based coffee roasting and wholesale business, Colorado Legacy, endured years of treatment for leukemia. Here at the studio, we aren't customers of Colorado Legacy, we're fans. We enjoy it every day.

Last year, Dan's significant other and business partner Roni made the announcement that Dan was cancer free. In addition, it also appears today is Dan's birthday. Roni sent out the following message earlier today:

Today Dan celebrates ONE YEAR cancer free!!! We all celebrate! I remember when he was first diagnosed almost three years ago he told me that 'no matter what happens, God must be glorified through this'. Today Dan lives to celebrate the MIRACLE of life. We give God all the glory and know there are many people that have been touched by God through Dans journey. Happy birthday Dan!! Let's blow up Dan's phone with birthday wishes!! - Roni Welsh via Facebook Messenger

Over the last few years, Dan has endured:

  • 92 days inpatient at Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah
  • 419 days outpatient at the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Seattle, Washington
  • 3 episodes of Septic Shock
  • 9 days in the intensive care unit at Community Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado
  • 2 Bone Marrow transplants
  • 24 and counting bone marrow biopsies
  • countless infusions of chemotherapy
  • numerous transfusions of red blood cells and platelets

As of July 23 of last year, Dan reported three consecutive bone marrow biopsies with no leukemia.

Via Facebook, Dan states:

My journey has finally transitioned to create a new normal in my life. I AM HOME😊😊😊

Like I say, most people I know, certainly the crew at the station, are absolute fans of Colorado Legacy. Whenever gift-giving season rolls around, we typically send friends and relatives coffee from this roaster.

I don't know about you, but I'm long overdue for some good news. I suspect we all are. When I shared the news last year regarding Dan's cancer-free diagnosis, it seemed appropriate to share a song that fit the occasion. Given the world's present situation, it seems this song is just as appropriate now as it was a year ago.

Congratulations, Dan. Happy anniversary. I'm looking forward to celebrating your 20th year cancer free. Until then, keep cranking out the magnificent coffee.
