The results are in, and you've crowned the champion in our search for Grand Junction's best ice cream. The results may surprise you.

Last Sunday, July 19, was National Ice Cream Day. According to Holiday Insights, National Ice Cream Day was established in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan. It always falls on the third Sunday of July. He also proclaimed July National Ice Cream Month.

I'm not one for ice cream, so I had no idea where to go to celebrate. With that in mind, it seemed wise to take it to masses. You've always been great at helping other Western Colorado residents find the best place for goods and services. The poll was kicked off last week, and the votes poured in.

At the same time we conducted our survey, one of our associates did a search for Colorado's favorite flavor of ice cream. Her findings? According to Daily Meal, who collected data from Google searches this summer across our state, Colorado's favorite flavor is... vanilla.

Okay, so here in Western Colorado, when we want to go out for vanilla ice cream (or any other flavor), where is the best place to go. These are the top ten choice, according to you.

Congratulations JD Concessions! I feel bad saying this, but at first, the name didn't ring a bell. Upon further investigation, JD's is the business you see set up at the Grand Junction Lowe's Thursday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Also finishing strong in our survey were Graff Dairy, Cold Stone Creamery, Enstrom Candies, and Gelato Junction. Coming in sixth place was Golden Corral, a local restaurant with both soft serve and regular ice cream.
While not an ice cream person, this list has made me curious. A trip to JD's might be in order. Temperature wise it appears we may get a little break this week, but highs will still be in the 90's in the Grand Junction area. Ice cream, vanilla or otherwise, would really hit the spot.
