These Colorado Movie Theaters Will Reopen on Friday
Are you ready to see a movie on the big screen again? These nine theaters located across Colorado will reopen to the public on Friday, January 8, 2021.
The message on Cinemark's official webpage reads, "Your theatre is reopening January 8! With careful planning and greatly enhanced safety measures, we are excited to welcome you back!"
According to 9News, under the current Level Orange, indoor theaters can operate at 25% capacity with a 50-person cap and 6-foot distancing between parties.
As exciting as this may be for some in Colorado, it does not necessarily affect everyone in the state. Cinemark operates nine theaters in Colorado, including:
- Aurora
- Boulder
- 2 in Colorado Springs
- 2 in Fort Collins
- Greeley
- Lakewood
- Pueblo
Reactions on social media are mixed. Cat Garcia says, "More highly contagious COVID variant...coming to a movie theater near you...what could possibly go wrong? Sigh........"
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Sol Ca said, "Me who had covid and is immune and can’t spread and ready to go to the movie theaters likes this news."
I'm so out of touch and lost deep in the Twilight Zone I haven't a clue what movies have been made in the last year. Looking at the webpage, the featured lineup includes:
- Wonder Woman 84 (the reviews for this suggest it's probably best you stay home)
- One Night in Miami
- Heaven
- The Croods
- News of the World
- The Marksman
- Monster Hunter
- Fatale
- Promising Young Woman
Well, that's one small step for movies, and one giant leap towards normalcy for the residents of Colorado. No doubt many will choose to wait before returning to crowded public spaces such as a movie theater. If social media is any indication, a great many will be in attendance Friday night.
