There are many places around the country where senior dogs get to live out the rest of their lives in peace and loving homes. However, some dogs never do get adopted especially older ones. More families are looking for younger dogs to grow with their children. I have heard of programs where senior retirement facilities get paired with senior dogs and they get to live happily ever after in some cases. But in most cases, the dogs are stuck in shelters.
