A new initiative will be on the ballot in November for a new sales tax on cigarettes.

Colorado's House approved a bill asking Colorado voters to raise taxes on cigarettes and other tobacco products, including vaping. The bill now goes to the Senate.

If voters approve the bill in November, you could see Colorado's sales tax increase on cigarettes from 84 cents to $2.59 a pack.

Governor Jared Polis introduced the bill to help combat the high rate of smoking and vaping among Colorado teens. According to a recent survey, Colorado teens have one of the highest vaping rates in the nation.
