Have you heard the new tune about City Councilman Rick Brianard . . .

As Rick Brainard took his oath of office last night along with other new Council Members,  members of the community treated him to boos, some with their backs turned.

Many residents believe Brainard should step down, after he admitted to hitting his live-in girlfriend in the face during a dispute back in April.

One local resident Will Whalen even composed a tune about it called the Brainard Blues:

Lyrics:

Everybody here has heard the story by now
Of the poor defenseless man who had to make her shut her mouth
His breath was thick with top-shelf gin while confessing to the sarge
He said, "I went looking for power and wound up with a battery charge
Well, now I know just what to do
If I don't like what I hear from you
I'll just knock you down to make you shut up
Just the other day, he got sworn into his post
He also swore to God there'd better be food when he got home
I would've thought he'd understand the trouble he was in
But in his photos and his mugshot, he was wearing the same grin
Well, now I know just what to do
If I don't like what I hear from you
I'll just knock you down to make you shut up
As long as I'm bigger and well-connected
Stronger than you and just-elected
I can just knock you down to make you shut up

According to the KKCO website Brainard must be in office for 60 days before a recall petition can begin. A special election would cost approximately $45,000.

5/8 UPDATE: According to the KKCO website Brainard was released from employement by West Star Aviation the day after he was sworn into office.
