Have you ever wondered how a comic book character and story come to life? The Mesa County Library will be offering a free 5-day workshop on "Storytelling Through Comics" in June.

Teens who want to develop storytelling skills through the creation of comics can sign up for a five-day workshop, happening from June 1st to 5th, that will show them how to do just that.

The workshops are open to teens ages 12-18 at no charge, although pre-registration is required. Register by calling 970-243-4442 or by visiting the online events calendar. All levels of ability are welcome!

The workshop, “Storytelling Through Comics” is a five-day event that takes place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily Monday through Friday, in the Mesa County Central Library Community Room, located at the corner of Fifth Street and Grand Avenue in Grand Junction.

This hands-on series will teach the nuts and bolts of comic creation. Participants will learn how to create characters, write effective dialogue, and plot the action of a comic, as well as the drawing techniques to put the story in motion. It will be taught by Sundial Hoffman, digital design instructor for Western Colorado Community College.

This workshop is funded by a grant from the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) and Dollar General.

Don't miss your chance to find out how to create your own comic with this free workshop.
