Some Grand Junction Citizens Setting Up 4th of July Event
We all were disappointed after hearing that Grand Junction wasn't going to have a 4th of July Fireworks Show. Then we got even more tough news as the 4th of July Parade downtown Grand Junction got canceled as well. It seems like the COVID-19 pandemic is taking a lot of fun out of 2020. But some Grand Junction citizens aren't dealing with it anymore and are planning their own 4th of July event.
The "Cruising For Freedom Rally" event was brought to my attention on social media and is being hosted by a group called, Stand For The Constitution. The event will be held on the 4th of July beginning at 11 a.m. going until approximately 12:30 p.m. As described on the Facebook event group, the rally will start with a cruise down North Avenue in Grand Junction beginning at the Big Lots parking area. The cruise will end at Sherwood Park at the end of North Avenue, off 1st Street where you will find booths and people speaking about freedom in America.
The event page states that this is a non-Partisan event and anyone concerned with protecting the constitution our freedoms and the rule of law is invited to participate in the event.
There doesn't seem to be any mention of fireworks or kid-friendly activities as part of this 4th of July event, but I'm sure this will back up traffic in the area. If you're trying to find something that the kids would enjoy it looks like Delta might be the best place to visit.
