I Thought I Loved Spring But Suddenly I’m Having Second Thoughts
Many of us look forward to spring with much anticipation, but upon further review, it's possible spring isn't all it's cracked up to be.
The Countdown to Spring Continues
I pretty much hate winter and I truly dislike being cold. I always look forward to spring. I have been counting the days - ever since the first day of winter. But, now that I think about it, I'm suddenly not looking forward to it at all.
What Has Changed?
Something in my thinking has definitely changed my perspective - and I know what that is. The realization has hit me, that at some point after the arrival of spring I will be taking brush and roller in hand to paint the outside of my house. I got the front painted - and boy does it look nice. However, soon after completing that part of the project, I lost my painting motivation, and not long after that came the cold weather. So, now, the task I put off last fall is staring me right in the face.
The fact is, I have done a lot of painting in my life and I hate painting with a passion. And after painting most of the inside of the house earlier in the year, surely you can understand why I wasn't so thrilled about tackling the outside paint job.
Learning One of Life's Lessons
There is a lesson to be learned here. Whatever you put off today because you hate doing it --you're going to hate it even more later. The moral of the story is don't put off until tomorrow what can be done today. In my case, it's making me look forward to spring a lot less than normal.
Of course, sometimes we have those undesirable tasks looming on the horizon - and it's not because we procrastinated. There are some things that just come with the territory and such is the case with spring - you have to take the good with the bad.
