Save Lives + Support First Responders with ‘Heroes Behind the Badge’
The Grand Junction Police and Fire Departments will face each other in a "Clash of the Titans" to save lives. Will you take part in the battle?
The Grand Junction Police Department and the Grand Junction Fire Department are reaching out to you in hopes you'll donate blood. The annual Heroes Behind the Badge Blood Drive will commence Monday, May 13, 2019. The event runs May 13 through 24.
You are asked to donate blood and then choose your champion. You can make your blood donation in honor of the Grand Junction Police Department or the Grand Junction Fire Department.
The agency receiving the most donations will be awarded $500 to be donated to the charity of their choice. There will be several opportunities for you to donate at locations all over the valley.
Upcoming blood drives will be held on:
- Monday, May 13, 8:30-10:30 am @ GJ Fire Department
- Thursday, May 16, 1:00-3:00 pm @ Mesa County Justice Department
- Thursday, May 16, 4:30-6:30 pm @ GJ Police Department
- Tuesday, May 21, 9-11 am @ Lower Valley Fire
- Friday, May 24, 11:00 am-1:00 pm @ GJ City Hall
In the event you can't make it to the Heroes Behind the Badge events, you can donate blood at the St. Mary's Regional Blood Center during their normal hours, Monday through Friday, 7 am to 5:30 pm, and on Saturdays from 7 am to noon.
Be sure to bring your ID, drinks a lot of water beforehand, and try to eat something before donating. Spread the word! Encourage your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers to participate, too.
