If you're a fan of bananas, you'll want to enjoy them while you can.

According to website newser.com bananas may be in serious danger.

A deadly fungus that's been killing the plants since the 1960s has jumped continents and infested entire banana plantations in Australia, China, the Philippines, Jordan, Mozambique, and Pakistan in recent years.  The fungus is being called the "Panama" disease, and has put many farmers and families out of business as well as cut them off from a major food source.

Right now the only way to fight the fungus is through strict quarantine. Researchers are trying to spread the word about effective measures in hopes of preventing it from hitting more plantations. It has not hit Latin America yet, where most of the world's bananas are grown. Researchers say that the days of the iconic yellow fruit could be few if the fungus reaches that part of the world.
