With Korea in the news wanting to launch nukes at us, it makes you wonder what the results would be if they did! Find out here . . .

I spent Sunday morning watching the news and searching the internet to educate myself, so I knew what could happen if the US can't stop them.

According to the various websites I found:

  • Nuclear warfare can be vastly more destructive in range and extent of damage, and in a much shorter time frame.
  • A major nuclear exchange could have severe long-term effects from radiation & the high levels of pollution leading to a "nuclear winter".
  • A large nuclear war could wipe out civilization on Earth.
  • Optimistic predictions foresee the death of many millions of victims within a very short period of time
  • It could disrupt the global climate for a decade or more.
  • After Hiroshima estimate show that - of the people who died on the day of the detonation - 60% died from flash or flame burns, 30% from falling or flying debris, and 10% from other causes. During the following months, large numbers died from the chronic effects of burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries, compounded by illnesses.
  • The extreme increase in radiation would not only cause many health hazards and genetic abnormalities, but it would also contaminate the soil so that any crops that were produced could not be safely eaten.

I even found a Google mapplet that shows you the effect of dropping everything from a 9 MT (Megaton) bomb, to the 15 KT (Kiloton)"Little Boy" that obliterated Hiroshima, to a complete Asteroid impact on any address of your choosing! Try it for yourself & see if your house would survive:
