Proof You Never Really Leave Grand Junction
You've heard of the Grand Valley curse. When moving away from Grand Junction. many people take dirt with them. Some take rocks. Some keep those rocks.
Years ago, a handful of creative people started cranking out KEKB pet rocks. I don't recall the motive. In any case, these things were everywhere. They were simply rocks with the KEKB logo drawn in ink.
Fast forward to 2018. Earlier this week, out of the blue, we received the following email from a former Grand Junction resident and KEKB listener:
I just wanted to share a story with you. My daughter who is 20 now was born in GJ we had to leave for my husband's work when she was 12yrs but Colorado is still where she calls home. Roots for the Broncos and still has her kekb pet rock that she got one year. And has used it in her garden. Here is a picture I thought ya'll would enjoy.
We do enjoy this. Eight years is a long time to hold on to a rock. I'm glad she still thinks of Grand Junction as home.
Thank you for staying in touch. Who would have guessed a rock with writing on it would become a keepsake? I never thought I would see one of these again, and certainly not eight years later from someone who's moved away from the valley.
