The Grand Junction Police Department has made an arrest in the case of the notorious "Western Colorado Panty Bandit." Police arrested a suspect they believe to be responsible for a number of burglaries involving the theft of women's clothing and undergarments.

Grand Junction police began to notice a pattern with a series of downtown burglaries. A number of homes had been entered while residents were away, and items including women's undergarments were taken.

Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department made an arrest in the case last night (Thursday, December 17.) The suspect was taken into custody after police made an arrest following the theft of a purse from a vehicle in the vicinity.

During the arrest, a search was made, uncovering a bag of women's clothing in the suspect's possession. A victim in the case was able to identify one of the articles of clothing.

Police are charging 49-year-old Jerry Madrid of Grand Junction with:

  • Theft from an auto
  • 1st Degree Criminal Trespass of an Auto
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Parole Violation

Madrid has a history of several arrests in his jacket already, including charges of:

  • Burglary
  • Theft
  • Trespass
  • Indecent Exposure
