This fire just keeps getting more and more difficult for crews to contain. The Pine Gulch Fire began almost one week ago from a lightning strike that took place around 18 miles north of Grand Junction.

The smoke is easily seen across the Grand Valley and you can often smell it when walking outside or if you leave your swamp cooler on. But we do have hundreds of brave men and women doing the best they can to put this fire out.

As operations wrapped up on Wednesday night the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control mapped the fire at 11,846 acres and it remains at just 5% contained.

The fire continued to move north over the past 24 hours with more details and the action plan being something that will be released this morning if you want to know the latest make sure you like the Pine Gulch Fire Facebook Page.

There have also been numerous people reaching out asking how they can help by donating supplies. But as of now, the staff have food, water, sports drinks, snacks, and hygiene supplies. If you still feel like you want to make a donation, the best thing to do is to send donations by mail to the De Beque Fire Protection District at 4580 Frontage Road, De Beque, CO 81630.

Another way to support the wildland firefighter community is to donate to the Wildland Firefighter's Foundation, just click here.
