It's going to be here before we know it, the Palisade International Honeybee Festival is coming up soon. In fact, make sure you put it on your calendar now as the event will be taking place on Saturday, April 18th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. downtown Palisade.

If you haven't heard of the Honeybee festival before it was created to celebrate the honeybee and bring awareness to all people about the importance of protecting the honeybee population.

Education about honeybees at the event is promoted through arts, crafts, lectures, food preparations, food demonstrations, and distribution of published materials.

The festival is all about highlighting the various beneficial products that are created in part by the honeybee population. Honeybees help so many different aspects of life including personal food consumption of honey to the pollination of commercial orchards and other crops.

The best part of the Internation Honeybee Festival is that it is FREE for everyone to attend, it's family-friendly and even a pet-friendly event. People in attendance are encouraged to join in on the fun of the costume contest, you can dress up your pet, make sure you shops at the different artisan vendors, you can purchase locally made honey, you can get lots of information from educational lectures and sample delicious honey-based chef creations.
