I'm now 45-years-old, and like this guy in the video, I'm a little worried, or maybe even deeply concerned, about getting over the obstacles at the Insane Inflatable 5K coming to Grand Junction at the Jam Ranch May 16. What can the "Over 40" crowd do to get ready for this thing?

Unlike the man in the video, I don't need a drink and a cigarette. I'm not much of a drinker and have never smoked.

I could go for a Pop Tart and a nap, though.

Aside from those two items, I'm not sure what else to do in order to get in shape to climb these obstacles.

I have a vision in my head as to what it is going to look like when I try to run this course, and it looks a little something like this:

Perhaps these suggestions might help:

First things first; we need to get in shape.

A little physical conditioning will not only enhance our performance, but rid ourselves of the embarrassment of jiggling when we run. The #1 obstacle facing the "over 40" crowd at this event would be overcoming insecurities involving our "man boobs."

There you go, training advice for the "Over 40" crowd to get us ready for the Insane Inflatable 5K, coming up May 16. See you there. We can all go out for a drink, nap, and Twinkie after the race.
