Members of the community have voiced their praise for the Montrose County Sheriff's Office arrest in an animal cruelty case where a dog was shot in the head twice and had its throat cut. Howard Mike Kelly, 55, of Olathe, Colorado, is being charged with Animal Cruelty, a Class 6 Felony.

According to the Montrose County Sheriff's Department, the incident occurred in the vicinity of the 2000 block of 6000 Road on July 4, 2015.

The Montrose County Sheriff's Office Facebook page states the community has come out in support of the agency. Some Olathe residents, however, have chimed in via the Facebook page with complaints the dog had been a nuisance for some time in the neighborhood. As of this post, the Montrose County Sheriff's Office has not released a mug shot.

The dog, "Flex," is at home, making a full recovery. An anonymous donor has paid all veterinary bills.
