New guidelines for District 51's free and reduced school lunch program are here.

This upcoming school year more Mesa County families will be able to qualify for the reduced or free school lunch program. Officials with District 51 have said that now more than half of the 4,500 students and their families can qualify for the program.

Allowing more families access to the reduced lunch prices eases the strains on those households who are already struggling. Officials believe that this will hopefully also lead to better test scores and overall learning for the students.

School starts August 16.

Mesa County residents are being asked to submit their applications as soon as possible. Click here to start that process.
