Mesa County Law Enforcement Emerges Victorious in Blood Drive Battle

Mesa County law enforcement agencies have emerged the victors in last month's 'Heroes Behind the Badges' blood drive. Following their win, the Western Colorado agencies donated the winnings to a couple of local charities.

Last March, several blood drives were conducted, each pitting local law enforcement agencies against local firefighters. Those participating made their blood donation in honor of one of the two contenders. The agency receiving the most donations was to be awarded a $500 prize which they could then donate to the charity of their choice.

Local law enforcement opted to donate their $500 award to a couple of local organizations: Delaney Donates and the Derek Geer Memorial Fund.

When it was all said and done, local law enforcement had 171 blood donations made in their honor.
