Congratulations to this Mesa County retreat. Gateway Canyons Resort has been named one of the best places in the world.

The folks at Travel & Leisure have put together their annual Top 100 list of Best Hotels in the World. Gateway Canyons comes in at number 52. That's not too bad for a place out here in the middle of nowhere. Well, at least when you think of terms as in best in the world. Gateway finished ahead of The Loiuse in Barossa Valley, Australia and just behind the Chateau du Surean in Oakhurst, California.

To put some sort of perspective on this, Gateway Canyons beat out places such as Aspen and Vail.

Definitely looks like a 'bucket-list' location for sure. Plus, it's only about an hour away from here. Here are just a handful of the activities you can take part in during your stay:

  • Air Tours
  • Car museum
  • Palisade Ranch
  • Skeet shooting
  • Hiking
  • Biking
  • Fly fishing
  • Off-road tours
  • Wine Country
