Marijuana Industry Not ‘High’ on Pot Delivery Bill
House Bill 19-1234, which passed the House recently allows for the delivery of Medical and, ultimately recreational marijuana.
Not everyone who is involved in the industry is happy about it, however.
In an attempt to circumvent illegal delivery of marijuana and the possibility of crime as a result of it, lawmakers passed the bill which will allow for medical marijuana delivery beginning in 2020 and recreational marijuana by 2021.
What has the industry most concerned is language in the bill allowing for third party delivery of marijuana after year one. Dispensary owners fear the passing of the bill will find fewer customers in shops resulting in lower sales.
Arguments for the bill state it allows for those who are unable to visit dispensaries to still have access to the product and state this is a natural progression for companies to expand their business.
Governor Polis has yet to comment on the bill, which is sitting on his desk awaiting his signature.
