Maren Morris on Hitting No. 1 on the Charts: ‘Proud to Be a Woman Today’
Maren Morris has hit a huge career milestone. Her single "I Could Use a Love Song" has made its way to the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart going into a new week, marking Morris' her first-ever No. 1 song.
She of course celebrated the victory on social media, saying how the more than 40-week climb it took to make it to No. 1 gives her a true sense of gratitude.
"43 weeks. Proud to be a woman today," Morris humbly writes in an Instagram post, circling the evidence with a pink highlighter and banner flags. "To my amazing Columbia promo team, to country radio, to the fans, thank you for making 'I Could Use a Love Song; my first #1. Also, @jammyrabbins & @lauraveltz, I knew we found magic when we wrote this song 3 years ago. Let’s always start our writes with tequila."
Morris fiancé, Ryan Hurd, also wrote a moving tribute in her honor, commemorating his lady's hard work and reflecting on the amazing memories they've created together, including celebrating Morris' No. 1 album Hero, Grammy and CMA Awards — and now her first No. 1 song.
"Move to Nashville, put your head down, write with your heart, hustle and don’t stop," Hurd writes in a reflective post next to a photo of he and Morris walking away from the camera, their hands gently on each other's backs. "I'm so blessed to be with someone who both loves and inspires me every day. So proud of how hard you worked to make it happen. No one can ever take it away from you. Congratulations, baby."
"I Could Use a Love" song is the third single off Morris' chart-topping Hero album and follows the Top 5 single "My Church" and "80s Mercedes" which peaked inside the Top 15. "I Could Use a Love Song" is also nominated for a 2018 Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance, with Morris scoring a win in the same category in 2017 for "My Church."
