A 9-1-1 phone call turned into a suspect being shot by Grand Junction Police.

An officer-involved shooting occurred Sunday afternoon off of 28 1/2 Road and North Avenue in Grand Junction.

A woman called 9-1-1 to report her husband was acting erratically. She was worried for her safety as well as the safety of her children.

Neighbors have reported the police visiting several times in the past. Witnesses say on Sunday, several Grand Junction police officers were at the residence. One eventually put on his bulletproof vest, grabbed a battering ram and entered the house. Shortly after shots were fired. Anywhere from 3-8 shots have been reported.

According to Grand Junction Police, the man may have been armed with knives. Arriving on the scene, GJPD were primarily focused on the well-being of the children that were in the home. Again, according to the GJPD, that's when the shooting took place.

Grand Junction Police reports that there were no other injuries. No more details on this incident have been released. 

The incident is under investigation.
