‘Killer Karaoke’ Finally Combines Electrocution and Karaoke on TV Game Show
Who wants to sit around with their family on Thanksgiving watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, football or 'A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving' when you can watch hapless game show contestants get tortured as they attempt to sing karaoke? Lucky for you, TruTV has a brand new show for the whole family this Thanksgiving weekend: 'Killer Karaoke.'
Hosted by former 'Jackass' star (and no stranger to self-mutilation) Steve-O, 'Killer Karaoke' hosts this new "game show" where contestants are "challenged to perform their favorite songs in extreme and outrageous circumstances." Such extreme circumstances include being electrocuted and sticking your hand in a venomous snake tank.
We're not sure they make enough Emmy Awards to accommodate this new show.
The contestants are competing for a grand prize of $10,000, which hardly seems enough for some of the rigors they put you through but these people do give it their all. The chap who repeatedly gets electrocuted while singing his rendition of The Black Crowes' "Hard to Handle" is admirably game and never breaks, despite the many volts coursing through his veins. Same cannot be said for the woman who gets bitten by the snake.
It's a slightly disturbing mix of 'American Idol' and 'Jackass' and 'Fear Factor' and will probably have its fair share of detractors calling it a new low for television and a sad reflection on our culture and it would be hard to argue with those people. But it also might make you laugh.
