Judy Collins Welcomed by Grand Junction Grammy Nod
Vocalist extraordinaire Judy Collins will perform in Grand Junction on Friday, and she'll be welcomed to the city with a Grammy nod. A local member of the Recording Academy has already cast his vote for Collins in this year's Grammy race.
Gary Smith, of GRS West Music in Grand Junction, a voting member of the Recording Academy, will be in attendance at Friday's show at the Avalon Theatre in downtown Grand Junction.
Judy Collins is up for an award at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Folk Album category. Of the five finalists, Smith considered her album to be the best. He has already cast his vote for Collins.
The album, Silver Skies Blue, by Judy Collins and Ari Hest, is in good company in the Best Folk Album category, accompanied by:
- Robbie Fulks
- Rhiannon Giddens
- Sierra Hull
- Sarah Jarosz
Make plans to see Judy Collins in concert this Friday at the Avalon Theatre. For that matter, be sure to watch the Grammys this Sunday night on CBS. Better yet, do both. In the event Collins wins in her category, you can say you saw her in concert just before she won the Grammy.
