A gruesome discovery was made on Wednesday, August 21, 2025, during a routine inspection of Davis Mortuary in Pueblo, Colorado, where inspectors found decomposing remains of over 20 human bodies, as well as human flesh and bones being stored in a hidden room.

Now, as if the story wasn't sensational enough, it has been reported that the coroner responsible for hiding the human remains, as well as the building itself that houses the mortuary, likely have significant ties to a local Freemason chapter.

What Are the Colorado Coroner's Ties to Freemasonry?

According to Pueblo Independent News, Brian Cotter, the coroner charged with the gruesome act of storing the decomposing remains in a hidden room, is a member of a local Freemason chapter.

In fact, it has been said that the city's local newspaper once published a story claiming that Cotter was a grand master of one of Pueblo's four Freemason chapters.

It has also been reported that the building in which Davis Mortuary is located is owned by the Freemasons. The building was allegedly built in the late 1800s by the Freemasons, who are said to still occupy two of the three floors.

However, it's been said that following the grisly discovery earlier this month, Cotter and his business, Davis Mortuary, have been evicted.

As of the publishing of this story, it's unclear if Cotter has been charged with any crimes, and the future of Davis Mortuary is uncertain as well.
