Our beloved Captain Kirk, the man who on a daily basis overcame insurmountable odds to defend humanity against evil villains, treacherous aliens, cosmic disasters, and lousy acting, finally met his end 19 years ago today at the hands of..... bad scaffolding.

Yes, the invincible Captain Kirk finally met his match when he fell off the side of a cliff when the scaffolding collapsed. When Star Trek: Generations opened on this day in 1994, most of us went to the theater knowing Captain Kirk was going to die. Little did we know it was going to be the limpest, most pathetic death in cinematic history. See for yourself.

Not quite what we had in mind. It's kind of unfortunate, since this battle represented the long awaited "Kirk meets Picard" scenario. It was also a waste of a great villain, Dr. Soran, portrayed by the brilliant Malcolm McDowell. There were TV episodes where red shirts met more interesting ends than this.

Well, like it has been said before, Star Trek is kind of like pizza.... even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. We miss you, Captain.
