The Mesa County Libraries Central Library located at the corner of Fifth and Grand in Grand Junction will have a screening on April 20th, 2016 of ‘Peace Officer, a film about the ever growing tension between the public and law enforcement officers.

‘Peace Officer’ is the story of former Utah sheriff William “Dub” Lawrence, the founder of Utah’s first SWAT team, and his hunt for the truth behind the SWAT team’s killing of his son-in-law after a questionable standoff that happened thirty years later.

Utilizing his own investigative skills, Lawrence attempts to uncover the truth behind the shooting as well as other recent officer-involved shootings. Additionally, he addresses the question of the evolving face of law enforcement officers across the country.

There will be a reception at 6 p.m., and after the film a panel discussion will take place.  There is no charge for the screening and it is open for everyoneParking is available in the East Lot of the Central Library just off Sixth and Grand.

Indie Lens Pop-Up entertains while educating the public by inviting expert panels and every-day citizens together in a welcoming atmosphere to talk about issues that are most important in today’s society.
