The wind picked up big time this weekend in Grand Junction, and with it, tons of airborne allergens. Allergy sufferers took a beating this weekend, and will continue to have a difficult time over the next few days. Did you know a website exists offering a five-day allergy forecast?

As I child, I was allergic to nothing. I spent half my life climbing trees and playing in grass and shrubs. Aside from penicillin, nothing bothered me. Now, living the dream in my mid-forties, it appears I'm now allergic to everything. This weekend was miserable.

Fortunately, a website exists offering a forecast, not unlike a weather forecast, with five-day estimates as to the allergen level in the valley.

To give you an idea, as of today (Monday, April 25) the allergy level is rated at 10.5. When you consider the highest level on the chart is a 12, it's obvious we are dealing with severe allergy levels. Later in the week, levels will hover around the half-way mark.

To put this in perspective, Saturday's level reached 11.2, only .8 from the highest possible rating.

If allergies are a major concern in your life, please keep your eyes on this website. In addition to pollen levels, the site offers excellent information on the causes of allergies, as well as treatment options.

Granted, if you have allergies, you have allergies... it's just that simple. Unless you own a spacesuit, a forecast isn't going to protect you. A little advance knowledge, though, certainly won't hurt.
