Horse in Sport-Sports Update-October 10th

The MLB Playoffs are up and running. High School sports continue this week with some great match-ups. The CMU Mavericks are at home this weekend. The Colorado Rockies are making some changes in the off season. Grand Junction Rockies receive award.

The San Francisco Giants were able to stay alive in the playoffs last night with a win over the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds lead the series 2-1 after the loss last night in the 10th inning. The Giants were able to pull off an extra inning win to stay alive. they will play game 4 today at 2:30 p.m.The Oakland A's stay alive with a win over Detroit last night 2-0. Coco Crisp had an ESPN Top Ten play when he robbed Prince Fielder of a Homerun. They will play game 4 tonight at 7:30. The Tigers lead the A's in the series 2-1. St. Louis visits the Nationals for game 3 today at 11 a.m.  The series is tied 1-1. The Orioles visit the Yankees today for game 3. The series is tied 1-1 and the game kicks off at 5:30 p.m.

The contracts of Colorado Rockies hitting instructor Carney Lansford and third-base coach Rich Dauer weren't renewed in the wake of manager Jim Tracy's unexpected resignation over the weekend. Lansford served two seasons under Tracy and the Rockies batted .274 this season, tops in the National League but they hit just .241 on the road as they finished 64-98, worst in franchise history. Dauer spent four years as the Rockies' bench coach and seven seasons in the organization overall. He also served as Colorado's infield coach and coordinator of all defensive positions.

In High School Sports Central and Delta go head to head in volleyball tonight at 6:30. Grand Junction is at Montrose tomorrow for a soccer match at 5 p.m. For Friday Night Lights Football Montrose will visit Junctions Tigers at 7 p.m. at Stocker Stadium. Game will be broadcasted live on 95Rock. Durango is at Central on Saturday at Stocker Stadium, game is set for 1 p.m.

CMU will be taking on Fort Lewis College on Saturday night at Stocker Stadium at 6 p.m. Mesa is coming off a big win vs Western New Mexico last week. Colorado Mines Women and Men's Soccer team will visit CMU on Friday night. Women kick off at 4 p.m. and men will play following that game at 7 p.m.

Grand Junction Rockies Tim Ray was selected as the Pioneer League Executive of the Year. Tim Ray was able to bring over 100,000 fans to GJ Rockies games. He also sold over 1,400 season tickets last year and is excited to see what the 2013 season brings.
