When I was leaving the Rimrock Walmark area yesterday I noticed something unusual on the corner of Rimrock Avenue and Hwy 6 & 50. It’s not unusual to see someone who is down on their luck panhandling at this corner in an attempt to make some quick cash. But yesterday I saw a businessman who was holding a sign but it was something I’ve never seen before. The man holding a sign looked nice in his business attire with a sign that read “Have Job Need Room to Rent”.

Until yesterday I had no idea how difficult it was to find a place to stay here on the Western Slope right now. There just isn’t enough affordable housing available right now. In fact, I overheard two people talking about paying close to $1,000 in rent to have their trailer parked in a facility for a month. Those prices are extremely steep.
