If you're a good cook and would like to share your skills, there's a wonderful volunteer opportunity available at Homeward Bound. Even if you're not good at cooking, volunteer to help and you'll probably pick up some tips. Either way, you'll learn some very valuable life lessons.

Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley has several days between now and the end of the year where they need volunteers to help cook and serve meals to homeless individuals and families who find safe shelter at their facility.

It doesn't matter if you can volunteer once a week, once a month, or once a year, it's a personally rewarding service to a part of the Grand Junction community few people really understand.

If you don't have time to volunteer, you can still help by donating food including canned fruit and vegetables, coffee and sugar. Perishables, especially lunch meat, and hamburger are also in short supply right now.

Just like home, everyday personal items like shampoo, tissues, hand sanitizer, paper towels, and toilet paper need to be replenished occasionally.

Common over the counter medicines sealed in original packaging for pain, colds, and allergies are needed but often overlooked by people making donations so those would also be very useful.
