From mega-mansions in the mountains to pricey college towns (ahem, looking at you Fort Collins), Colorado is not exactly the cheapest place to settle down. But when it comes to the richest places in the Centennial State, two northern Colorado cities are among the top ten.

The website, Homesnacks, analyzed 76 places in Colorado to determine where the 1% live. This is their fifth time ranking the richest cities in Colorado, and they did so by comparing things like household income, poverty rate, and unemployment rate from city to city. Based on their results, these are the richest places in Colorado in 2019:

  1. Castle Pines

Castle Pines is consistently on top of the list for being the wealthiest area in Colorado. They have a population of 10, 623 people and a median household income of $157,550. Houses here look like they've just been plucked from a magazine.

  2. Cherry Hills Village

Cherry Hills Village is not just one of the most affluent places in Colorado, but in the entire United States too. Based on their low unemployment and poverty rates, and a median household income of $238,750, residents here are definitely living the lavish life.

  3. Lone Tree

Lone Tree saw a huge jump in its "rich score" over the past year, moving up from #9 on the list to #3. The city's median income is $122,202 and with a larger population than both Cherry Hills and Castle Pines, it's one of the fastest growing areas in the state. The town's official motto is "It's a great day to be in Lone Tree!" and, well, that's probably right.

4. Wellington

Wellington is the only city in Larimer County to make an appearance on the list of richest places, moving up one spot from last year. It's an area that's also seeing a ton of growth, but has still maintained a low unemployment rate. The median household income here is $86,190.

5. Superior

Superior is new to the top five richest places in the state, moving up from #8 last year. According to Homesnacks, 9/10 people here are employed, and the median household income is $119,810.

The other richest areas that round out the top 10 in Colorado this year are Eagle, Castle Rock, Parker, Greenwood Village, and Milliken.
