Do you recognize these criminal masterminds? Perhaps you recognize their getaway car. Mesa County deputies are investigating a report of two people stealing traffic cones from a construction zone on 30 Road near E ½ Road in Grand Junction.

Imagine this conversation going down at the Mesa County jail:

Prisoner 1: "So, what are you in for?"
Prisoner 2: "Stealing cones."
P1: "Stealing cones? Is that some kind of street term for drug smuggling or human trafficking?"
P2: "No. I actually stole cones. You know, the orange things you see in the middle of the road. Cones."

The video images at the bottom of this post were captured overnight on Sunday, October 13, 2019. You're looking at Mesa County Sheriff's Office Case #19-34459 (insert Dragnet music). You'll see two young men wearing light-colored clothing. They have a little pep in their step, so it's difficult to get a good look at them.

Is it just me, or does the video at the bottom look reminiscent of this scene?

If you have information about this crime contact the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office at (970) 242-6707. You can also send them a private message or send your info to Crime Stoppers of Mesa County.
