Someone please tell Lois to slow down. This long-time Grand Junction restaurateur was supposed to have retired. What was she doing working yesterday at this Western Colorado restaurant?

Do you recall Lois' Place closing down last November? At that time, we told you Lois had retired and the staff would be migrating to a new venue, the Sunrise Restaurant. This new restaurant occupies the space where Los Reyes operated for years.

Sunrise Restaurant opened early this year. Over the last nine months I've made a point to stop by from time to time. I stopped by yesterday morning (September 19), and who did I see seating guests and getting drink orders? It was Lois.

According to Bing.com, retirement is defined as:

NOUN -The action or fact of leaving one's job and ceasing to work.

It's been almost a year since Lois' closed her place at 2nd and Grand. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing Lois at the new venue. She was always a major part of the charm at Lois' Place. I look forward to seeing her. I'm still unclear as to why she's not enjoying her retirement.

Was Lois' retirement another hoax, kind of like the KISS farewell tour, or the perpetual Fleetwood Mac farewell tour? I asked one of the waitstaff why Lois' was still working, and she said:

She just likes to come in and work. She calls it playing.

Okay, false alarm. It appears Lois' retirement is not a hoax, after all. Needless to say, what Lois does with her time is none of my business. I simply felt that after 30 years of running her own restaurant it was time to enjoy a little downtime. It was fun seeing her at the new establishment. My guess is she will be dropping in frequently.
