Evidence of Grand Junction’s Electric Streetcar Can Still Be Found Today
Grand Junction’s electric Street Car on Main Street dates back to 1908 thanks to the Main Street Trolley Company. The postcard below is a depiction of opening day for the trolley and was mailed sometime after 1910.
Whomever the postcard was sent to was one of the first individuals to see the trolley crafted by Grand Junction Electric, Gas & Manufacturing Company.

Grand Junction's Streetcar Takes Over for the Horse and Buggy
In just 5 short years, the Streetcar was all the rage in Grand Junction. Grand Junction Had Plenty of Space for Off-Street Parking and the Streetcar
In the photo below, another 10 years have passed. It is now 1920 and the Grand Junction streetcar shares the roads with a lot more cars than before. People who see this photo often comment about how wide the streets used to be. Room for off-street parking, a streetcar, AND cars driving down the road. What happened to all that space?
Evidence of the Grand Junction Streetcar Can Still Be Seen Today
By many accounts, the Streetcar was out of commission by around the time of World War II. After digging into the actual operation of the electric streetcar, we found it was used in Grand Junction from 1908 to 1928. We also want to thank the Historical Photos of Fruita & Western Colorado for letting us share the postcards.
We've put together a few photos of the modern-day streets of Grand Junction where you can still spot the tracks to this day.
