Tattoos have been around for more than 5,000 years and are as diverse as the cultures that celebrate them, however, some people either love them or hate them. Personally, I don't mind some ink, but I'm not sure if I agree with the overboard Mike Tyson face tattoos or head to toe sleeves, but it's not my body, so what am I to say?

Most people who have tattoos say they can be addicting, kinda like that potato chip, you just can’t have one.

I have two tattoos but don’t flaunt them, if asked I will share them with you. They represent two things I am proud of. I have thought about getting another one, but it would have to be something very special and so far I haven't come up with any ideas.

My question, since I am new to Grand Junction, if and when I do decide to get another tattoo, where is the best place to get one?

I found a few place searching the internet, and by the looks of some of the photo galleries, there are some talented tattoo artists around. Take a look at what I found so far.

The Raw Canvas  | 507 Main Street Grand Junction, Colo. 81501 (970) 985-9649

I checked out a few of the artist galleries, and wow, there's some nice work there. I really dig the watercolor styles of Justin Nordine. You should also check out Melora Coyle too, she has a nice traditional style.

Black Pearl Tattoo, Inc. | 555 North Ave. Grand Junction, Colo. 81501 (970) 250-6727

This is crazy! Did you know Erik Campbell of Black Pearl Tattoo will be a featured artist on Ink Master Season 6? Checking out his portfolio, I can definitely see why. I may have to put this guy high on my list.

Calamity Jane's Tattoo | 803 North Ave. Grand Junction, Colo. 81501 (970) 424-5065

Calamity Jane's says they've been tattooing Grand Junction since '79, so I guess you could say they're a staple in Junction. Flipping through their portfolio, I really dig their classic style.

I'm sure there are more great places that I haven't found yet, so maybe you can help me by leaving the best place you know in the comments.

I'd also like to see some of you work, you can send them to me and we'll share them with the rest of the world.
