I am of the belief that great music never grows old - and it never dies.

The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra has the same mindset, and for one night only will celebrate some classic songs that never seem to fade away. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr. are legends and their music is legendary.

Songs like New York, New York, My Way, Mr. Bojangles, That's Amore', and The Lady and the Tramp will be featured when the GJSO presents Pops: The Rat Pack at the Avalon Theatre.

If you're like me, you have a wide appreciation of music from the rock sounds of Journey and Styx, to the country sounds of Garth Brooks, Alabama, and Faith Hill to the softer side of crooners like Tony Bennett, Nat "King" Cole, and, of course, the 'Rat Pack.' Revisiting these classic songs sounds like a great way to spend an evening.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $45, and based upon what I saw on the GJSO website, tickets are going fast for the January 11 concert at the Avalon. If you're interested, you better not wait.
